Online Pre-Registration Open for 2nd Meeting of Signatories to the Raptors MoU

Due to the generosity of the Government of Norway, the Second Meeting of Signatories (MoS2) to the Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Birds of Prey in Africa and Eurasia (Raptors MoU) is set to be held from 5-8 October 2015 at the Clarion Hotel & Congress, Trondheim, Norway.  Formal invitations have been issued to all 52 Signatories and 3 Co-operating Partners, as well as to the 80 non-Signatory Range States who are welcome to attend as observers.

Effective conservation of migratory birds of prey requires internationally coordinated policies and collaborative efforts by all the Range States involved. The overall aim of MoS2 is to review implementation of the Action Plan in the Raptors MoU, particularly during the three-year period since MoS1 was held (December 2012 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) and to identify policies and priorities for the future. The meeting provides the opportunity for representatives from Signatories, non-Signatory Range States, relevant intergovernmental organisations, non-governmental and private sector agencies to meet face-to-face, in order to promote cooperative efforts for the conservation of African-Eurasian migratory raptors and their habitats.

The Online Pre-registration Form is available via the MoS2 webpage and it will close on 31 August 2015. All meeting documents will be published on this webpage in English and French, as soon as they become available.  An Information Note for participants is already available here.

A Signing Ceremony for new Signatories is anticipated to be held at MoS2.  Any Range State or potential Cooperating Partner interested in signing the Raptors MoU is kindly requested to contact the Coordinating Unit at their earliest convenience via [email protected].

All Signatories, Co-operating Partners, non-Signatory Range States and other stakeholders are encouraged to contribute to the success of the meeting by presenting their work, or any related issues of interest, at a side-event or in the form of an exhibition stand or a poster.  If you wish to organize any of the above in the margins of MoS2, please complete the appropriate sections of the pre-registration form no later than 31 August 2015.

We look forward to seeing you in Trondheim!
