The Czech Republic and Switzerland signed the CMS Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Birds of Prey in Africa and Eurasia (Raptors MoU) at the 11th Conference of Parties to CMS (COP11) in Quito, Ecuador. This brings the total number of Signatories to 48.

Building Fieldwork Capacity in Africa to Conserve the Endangered Egyptian Vulture
The Coordinating Unit of the Raptors MoU is pleased to announce the successful completion of a Fieldwork Capacity Building Project to support the conservation of migratory Egyptian Vultures of the Balkan Region on their wintering grounds in Ethiopia, Sudan and Chad. The Fieldwork Capacity Building Project was focused on training a small number of local African ornithologists to undertake surveys of Egyptian Vultures in their own countries.

Bird Trapping in Egypt and Libya – Plan of Action Put in Place
The Plan of Action to Address Bird Trapping along the Mediterranean Coasts of Egypt and Libya went public today together with the launch of the freshly-developed website for the International Task Force, established to ensure its effective implementation. The Plan of Action (PoA) was developed in advance of the coordination meeting on bird trapping in Egypt and Libya, convened by the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat on 29 November 2013 at the UN Campus in Bonn, Germany, where it was revised.
